OUR STORY
Your hosts Paul & Michelle came over the border into Mid-Wales nearly 5 years ago from nearby Chester and have never looked back.

Ty Llwyd (Grey House) is where Oak Hill Escape is located and sits within 11 acres of spectacular views in many directions. There is currently just 1 lodge set in a 3 acre secluded meadow and you're welcome to explore or just enjoy the views.
One of the features here (apart from the views) are the many oak trees, of which some are over 400 years old. All are different and you can see an ancient oak struck by lightening, many years' ago.

We are located under a 5 minute drive from the small town of Llanfair Caereinion. Here you can find a Post Office, Fish & Chip / Chinese takeaway, Petrol Station, 3 pubs, all the usual convenience stores & a Steam Railway that travels to Welshpool. The larger town of Welshpool is 15 minutes away and sandy beaches an hour in the opposite direction.

Sorting the grass and access tracks has taken some mowing and stone! From an overgrown area and inaccessible tracks to lush green grass, wildflower meadows and accessible tracks in just 1 year.

So many plants have been planted and this will keep being improved. The aim is for many paths meandering through the wild flowers, harbouring a myriad of wildlife. Just look at the uncut parts in summer and the bright green, tiny grasshoppers, spring as you pass.

Multi-coloured Dragonflies make an appearance, along with many different varieties of butterfly. At dusk you may see the tiny Pipistrelle bats keeping the insect population at bay and swooping, harmlessly around you if you have a torch.
